Piers Morgan sends message to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Arsenal win
Piers Morgan has taken to social media to compare Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Thierry Henry after the striker helped to fire Arsenal to a 2-1 win at Burnley on Sunday.
The Gunners headed into the game looking to end the Premier League campaign on a high ahead of their Europa League final clash against Chelsea FC at the end of the month.
After a goalless first half at Turf Moor, Aubameyang gave Arsenal the lead with a solid finish in the 52nd minute.
The Gabon international then added a second in the 63rd minute before Ashley Barnes pulled a goal back for the visitors two minutes later.
Arsenal held on to take all three points – but it wasn’t enough for the Gunners to finish in the top four, as they ended up fifth in the table and a point behind bitter local rivals Arsenal.
Nevertheless, celebrity Arsenal fan and former Daily Mirror editor Morgan was delighted to see Aubameyang net his 21st and 22nd Premier League goals of the season.
Posting on Twitter during the game, Morgan wrote: “Brilliant by @Aubameyang7. Finally, we have a striker as quick & ruthless as @ThierryHenry.”
And former midfielder Ray Parlour also chimed in on Twitter, writing: “Shame it’s for nothing but @Aubameyang7 doo doo doo doo doo @Aubameyang7 doo doo doo doo @Aubameyang7.”
Arsenal will now switch their attentions towards European affairs and their Europa League final clash against Chelsea FC in Baku at the end of the month on 29 May.
