Callaway Unsure Of When Lowrie Will Be Activated
During a presser Sunday at Citi Field prior to the Mets’ rain out, manager Mickey Callaway said that he is unsure of when infielder Jed Lowrie will be activated from the Injured List.
The Mets were originally planning for last Friday to be the day to bring him back, but Lowrie felt he needed more reps, so the New York kept him at Triple-A Syracuse.
On his current rehab assignment, Lowrie is hitting .161/.235/.258 over eight games split between St Lucie and Syracuse. The veteran had a big day on Friday, going 3-for-4 with a home run, but then took a step in the wrong direction last night, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Lowrie has played shortstop, third base, and second base on his road back from a knee injury.
Minor League rehab assignments last 20 days for position players, so Lowrie must be activated by May 18, which is next Friday.
