Dalhousie Wins Challenge
22 teams teed it up for the 2019 Wilson District Challenge at the soggy Norwood Hills West Course. While local radar showed no precipitation, light rain and mist persisted for the early part of the round, and finally gave way to a cloudy and unseasonably cool afternoon. In the Professional Competition, Gideon Smith (Quincy CC) shot an outstanding 2 Under 69 to capture first place. JD Auping (Lake Forest CC) shot 70 to capture second place, while Ryan Roy (our host at Norwood), won a scorecard playoff to finish third, beating Brett Moomey (Old Hickory GC).
In the Superintendent Division (a Net competition with 80% handicap), John Briggs (Fox Run GC) shot a two over 73 to capture the Superintendent Division. Matt Seiffert (Lake Forest CC), captured second with a 74, winning a scorecard playoff over Tim Salazar (Quincy CC). In the team competition (two best balls net w/80% handicap for the amateurs), the Dalhousie
Golf Club team, featuring Pro Bill Morrow, Superintendent Todd Ellis, John Oliver and Todd Rowley fired a 13 Under Total of 129 to capture the honors in the team competition. The Bellerive team, featuring Pro Mike Tucker, Superintendent Mitch Goedeke, District Rep Andy Frost, and Michael Chase, shot 130, to take runner up honors. The Glen Echo team of Pro Mike Herbig, District Rep Nathan Calcari, Wayne Klenke, and Greg Murphy shot 131 to capture third place. Thanks to volunteers Buster DelaRoche and Larry Albright for their assistance in tabulating all the totals. And many thanks to the Members and staff at Norwood Hills, especially host Ryan Roy, District
Rep Mike Hartman, and Superintendent Mike Null for their efforts in preparing the course to make the tournament happen in the wet conditions of the last couple of weeks.
