Two injured in weekend Hayward shooting
HAYWARD — Investigators with the Alameda County sheriff’s office are working to find out why two people were shot this weekend, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies responded around 11:30 p.m. Saturday to reports of the shooting in the 25100 block of Second Street in the city’s Fairview neighborhood, Alameda County Sheriff’s Lt. Ray Kelly said Sunday night.
Deputies found the two victims, who were taken to an area hospital for treatment and are expected to survive.
A shooting suspect managed to escape before deputies arrived. A motive is still unknown, Kelly said.
Other agencies also responded to the scene to assist, but Hayward police referred an inquiry Sunday to the sheriff’s office.
Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office at 510-667-7721.
