Portland, OR peeps- a GT tandem in need of rescue!

Another friend pointed this out. It looks like it could use a good mechanic but seems intact. I see Ringle bottle cages, Bullseye derailleur pulleys, and Shimano thumbshifters. I'd go for it but my one try with putting my wife on the back of a tandem led to some... ummm… discord.
