Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 Highlight: Jaime-Cersei Meet Their Dreadful Fate, Here’s Who All Die
Spoiler Alert: The episode five of Game of Thrones Season 8 saw more bloodshed than what was expected. The battle of King’s Landings saw relationships dying and cold-blooded deaths. As many predicted, the lady Stark didn’t waste a moment in telling Tyrion Lannister the truth about the parentage of Jon Snow – that he is Aegon Targaryen. Tyrion told it to Varys who told Jon that he is now convinced not Daenerys but he is the rightful ruler of the Iron Throne. Varys is then taken into custody by the Dragon queen who sentenced him to die and he was burnt alive by her dragon Drogon.
Cersei Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen prepared for the Last War for the Iron Throne of Westeros with the former being defended by her army, The Golden Company, and the Lannister army which is aimed at killing Drogon. Jon Snow stood up for his queen and had Dothraki and the Northern Army join Unsullied in the fight. At the end of the battle, myriads got massacred by Drogon’s dragonfire in the Red Keep and a love story, that resulted in Bran Stark’s crippling in episode 1, finally ended.
Before meeting Cersei, Jaime fought with Euron Greyjoy who put a knife through him intending to kill him. However, he is killed by Jaime, who then gets to Cersei as the queen lied shattered seeing her decimated kingdom. The episode revealed that Cersei was pregnant when she asked Jaime Lannister to save her life. As Daenerys promised in the last episode: “We’ll rip her out root and stem”, the battle ended in the conclusion that couldn’t have gotten more mortified. After Tyrion informed Jaime about the hidden path that can save Cersei’s life, the two forbidden lovers found themselves at the brink of death as nothing could prove to be useful under the destruction caused at the Red Keep. At last, the prophecy of Maggy the Frog turned true albeit with a twist – Cersei could only have three children. The roof collapsed over the twins as Jaime wrapped his arms around her throat and held her while saying, “Nothing else matters. Only us.”
