Bafta TV Awards 2019: Strictly’s Tess Daly mortified over Graham Norton’s joke about Seann Walsh and Katya Jones cheating scandal
STRICTLY Come Dancing’s Tess Daly was left mortified by Graham Norton’s joke about Seann Walsh and Katya Jones’ cheating scandal at the Bafta TV Awards.
The 50-year-old was all smiles on the red carpet as she attended the annual ceremony in London on Sunday alongside her co-host Claudia Winkleman.
But once inside the event, she visibly cringed as host Graham, 56, targeted the BBC One dancing show and last year’s snogging scandal between married pro Katya and comedian Seann.
Making a quip about hit BBC drama Line of Duty, Graham said: “More forensically detailed interrogation of times, dates and mobile phone data, hasn’t been seen since that time Seann Walsh got home late from Strictly practice.”
As the camera zoomed in on Tess, she looked visibly mortified as she closed her eyes and shook her head, while Claudia, 47, laughed before covering her face with her hands.
Head judge Shirley Ballas was also seen laughing in the seats behind the hosts as the audience released a mixture of boos and gasps.
But Graham wasn’t finished, as he cheekily added: “I know, you snog one dancer…”
Tess’ reaction didn’t go unnoticed by viewers at home, with one writing on Twitter: “LMAO at Tess being fuming but Claudia p***ing herself.”
Another added: “Tess Daley never liked the joke about Strictly.”
A third tweeted: “Living for @ClaudiaWinkle and @ShirleyBallas howling at that Strictly joke in Graham’s opening monologue while Tess tries to look serious.”

In The Sun’s exclusive pictures, Seann, 33, and Katya, 30, were snapped snogging in the street in October last year.
The pair had been partnered together for the 2018 series by show bosses but shared a drunken snog just three weeks into the competition, despite Katya being married to fellow pro Neil Jones.
The stars immediately issued grovelling apologies and Katya insisted last month her marriage was back on track after the scandal.
