Kabir Singh Trailer: Shahid Kapoor Owns Every Bit of That Raw, Dark, Self-Destructive Lover on-Screen

The makers have released the trailer of Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh. Playing the titular character, the actor appears wild from the very first scene in the trailer. The video gives the complete glimpse of his character and establishes him as a man who’s a rebel but not without a cause. The suffering, the passionate love, the pain of separation and the fire to face everything in life are a few traits of Shahid’s character in the film. Essentially, as the trailer successfully manages to reveal, Kabir Singh is the film of a man who sets on a self-destructive path despite his splendid education and the support of his dear friends. The film is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and has Kiara Advani playing the character of Preeti, Kabir’s meek girlfriend who bows down in front of circumstances and gets married to someone else, leaving the man horrified.

Apart from showing Kabir’s erratic behaviour, as it’s established in the scene when he takes a handful of ice cubes and shoves them down his underpants, the trailer also shows some romantic moments between Kabir and Preeti. These scenes featuring Shahid and Kiara romancing around add depth to the story and reveal what Kabir is feeling deprived of while becoming an alcoholic and a drug addict. The trailer promises a lot to Shahid’s fans. After his last cinematic offering – Batti Gul Meter Chalu bombed at the Box Office, Kabir Singh seems to be bringing back the actor to the fore. The character appears raw and Shahid, to his credit, has justified his performance by showing absolutely no empathy for Kabir – he has played it gritty.

Kabir Singh is the remake of Telugu hit film Arjun Reddy. Even the original film was directed by Vanga. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde, it’s slated to hit the screens on June 21.
