Chelsea fly out to Boston for pointless friendly with five new youngsters as Sarri’s men face 11,500-mile world tour over next two weeks
CHELSEA have kicked-off their exhausting, 11,500-mile world tour by flying out to Boston for their pointless friendly with New England Revolution.
The Blues have taken five new youngsters to the USA, as Maurizio Sarri’s men face a gruelling fortnight of travel.
Just a day after completing their final Premier League game of the season – a 0-0 draw with Leicester – Chelsea have ensured their players aren’t given a break.
Rather than start training for their Europa League final in Baku, Azerbaijan in a little over two weeks, they’ve jetted off to America.
Chelsea will take on MLS side New England revolution for a one-off friendly, in what will be a 6,000-mile round-trip on its own.
The controversial fixture has been slammed by boss Sarri, despite it being part of the club’s anti-Semitism programme.
The match is being dubbed the “Final Whistle on Hate”, as part of the “Say no to anti-Semitism” campaign.
BRING THE KIDS
The Italian boss claimed: “We need to rest. Unfortunately we have to go to the US, but we have ten days to prepare for the final and we have to recover energy.”
But on Monday morning, Chelsea jetted off to Boston regardless – taking with them five new youngsters.
Reece James, back from his superb loan stint at Wigan, joins a youthful looking squad to fly out to the USA.
The right-back, 19, is joined by Trevor Chalobah, back from his loan Ipswich, Academy Player of the Year Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi.
Versatile defender Guehi, also 19, was on the bench for the Blues’ final game of the season, having been at Chelsea since joining the Under-8s.

Both he and Gallagher, 19, were part of England’s Under-17s World Cup-winning squad from 2017.
Ike Ugbo, 20, is also on his way out to the US, despite struggling on loan at Scunthorpe this season, with the striker scoring just once in 15 league games.
Elsewhere, first-team stars including Olivier Giroud, David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho and Willian were spotted as they made their way to America.
The Chelsea team bus left Cobham for the airport this morning – with players updating their social media followers as they boarded their US-bound plane.
