Everton fans mugging off Liverpool rivals in train station with “you nearly won the league” chant
EVERTON fans brutally trolled Liverpool supporters by chanting “you nearly won the league” at them.
Jurgen Klopp’s side came agonisingly close to winning the title after the 2-0 win over Wolves, but Manchester City finished one point above them.
If Manchester City would have lost to Brighton, Liverpool would have ended their 29-year wait for the title.
But Pep Guardiola’s side shattered their dreams as they thumped the Seagulls 4-1 to retain their trophy.
Everton fans saw this as the perfect opportunity to troll their bitter rivals when they bumped into them at a train station.
A large group of Toffees supporters screamed: “You nearly won the league, you nearly won the league!”
Police were on hand to separate the two groups, but Everton’s fans continued to chant and fly their flags.
The Liverpool supporters, who were said to be on their way back to London, tried to ignore the barrage of abuse.
Everton’s fans were allegedly making their way back up to Merseyside after the 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
