EastEnders’ Ben Mitchell will get a new love interest in explosive summer episodes, confirms boss Jon Sen
EASTENDERS is lining up a shock new love interest for Ben Mitchell for the summer.
The Walford revenger – who is played by actor Max Bowden in the BBC soap – sent a saucy text to his mystery man after romping off-screen and now soap boss Jon Sen has revealed there will be a new focus on Ben’s love life going forward.
He told The Metro: “For the Mitchells, it is fair to say Ben’s return hasn’t gone the way he planned but he’s proven himself to be a man who will go to any lengths to get what he wants and that doesn’t stop with his scheming – it extends to his love life too.
“As Phil looks like he might work out what Ben’s up to an unexpected twist is about to turn their worlds upside down….”
It comes after fans were convinced Ben’s secret lover is actually Gray Atkins.
He was seen waking up to a message that read: “Last night was hot. More later?” from a man called “Pecs guy”.
Pecs Guy even included a water splash emoji that is typically used in sexting.
While having breakfast with his young daughter Lexi, Ben replied: “Problem at home I gotta sort out first.”
He then added an aubergine emoji, which is often used as a cheeky symbol for someone’s manhood.
But while fans were shocked at the salacious text messages, they couldn’t help but think that Pecs guy was in fact Gray Atkins.
Solicitor Gray arrived in the Square last month alongside wife Chantelle Taylor, but fans think he has been hiding a secret double life, and have taken the text as evidence of it.
One wrote: “Does any one else think Chantelle’s husband is Ben’s text man? Makes sense why he is sneaking around.”
Other fans have been desperate for Ben and Gray to have an affair, with one saying: “I hope so! It’s a soap after all. And in need of good drama.”

While another cheekily added: “I won’t be complaining.”
Ben’s return has seen his revenge plan against his dad Phil end in disaster after Phil discovered what Ben was up to, and he swiftly put an end to it and told Ben he wasn’t wanted.
However, Ben’s vicious behaviour has seen him behaving increasingly more unhinged as he attacked Rainie Cross and launched another scheme to get the car lot back from Max Branning.
