Thorpe Park Resort: How to beat the queues for rides and make the most of your day
SUN Superdays is back and you can snag two FREE tickets worth over £100 to Thorpe Park Resort when you collect nine codes with Sun Savers.
The offer kicked off in your Sun paper on Saturday, May 11 – so start collecting NOW.
We sent one of our savvy shoppers down to Alton Towers to share their hacks for making the most of your day, once you’ve bagged those bargain tickets…
HACK #1: Early bird gets on the rides
There are over 30 exciting rides and attractions to get to – so if you can try and get to the park 15 minutes early to beat the crowds and get a head start on your day.
HACK #2: Be tech savvy
Instead of faffing around with paper tickets, downloading your pass straight onto your phone with the Thorpe Park Resort app makes things easier.
The app is also great for if you do find yourself in a little queue – that way you have the park’s map and ride queue times at your fingertips so you can keep updated and plan accordingly.
HACK #3: Measure up
You don’t want to get to the front of your coveted thrill ride and realise you’re too short to go on it.
You can measure yourself at the entrance of each ride – so make sure any smaller folk with you pass the restrictions to save any disappointment!
HACK #4: Wear comfortable shoes
Running to the back of the park at the beginning of the day can mean you beat the crowds – so make sure you’re wearing a cosy pair of trainers as you will be doing quite a bit of walking – and no one wants to get blisters or ruin their day thanks to dodgy shoe choice.

Simply collect NINE Sun Savers codes or TEN tokens from those printed daily inside The Sun between Saturday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 28.
If you’re collecting Sun Savers codes, you can enter them in the app or online at sunsavers.co.uk.
And, it pays to be a Sun Saver – if you enter in this way, you get early access to booking, the best availability and your choice of date.
Savers can unlock early booking from Sunday, May 19.
Once booking has been unlocked, readers are directed to a Superdays/Sun Savers booking site to pick their date from an online calendar and
receive e-tickets.
HACK #5: Entertain yourself
In all honesty, you will definitely have to queue for rides at some point, you can’t beat the crowds all day. So be prepared to entertain yourself. Charades anyone?
HACK #6: Eat early
Everyone tends to get hungry around the same time, between 12-2, and all the restaurants get busier at these times. If you don’t fancy more queuing, I suggest eating an early lunch.
It’s also worth noting that you can bring your own picnic in the park if you want to save time and money!
You’ll get loads of extra energy, beat the queues, and if you do get a rumble in your tummy later on, grab a donut from the Donut Compound.
HACK #7: Stash your stuff
British weather is unpredictable, and it’s worth bringing a rain mac, a brolly, sun cream – the list goes on.
You can stash your stuff in one of the many lockers around the park.
Another top tip is to bring a towel with you… just in case you “accidentally” end up in the Tidal Wave splash zone.
HACK #8: Model behaviour
It’s easy to get caught out on ride pictures – so practise your best smile and look out for the cameras before you get on them.
HACK #9: Save the wet rides for later
No one wants to walk around with a soggy bottom all day, so try to opt for the water rides last.
It’s also worth bringing a ziploc bag for your phone – better to be safe than sorry!
If you do end up going on the water rides first, you can use the full body heaters stashed all over the island to dry you off.

HACK #10: Car snaps
By the end of a sun drenched, water soaked day, the last thing you want is to realise you’ve forgotten where you’ve parked your car!
Make sure to take a picture of where you parked that morning, to help yourself have a hassle free journey home.
You can also drop a “pin” on Google maps to help find your way back to your car speedily.
