Rays prospects and minor leagues: Biscuits win 4th straight
Brendan McKay had his first multi-hit game in nearly a month.
Mike Brosseau stayed hot for Durham Sunday, hitting his eighth home run of the season. He also played shortstop for the first time this season. At 5’10 and 215 pounds, there’s not a long track record of shortstops with similar size, but the Rays are clearly interested in improving his versatility.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (21-15)
Durham’s seven-game winning streak ended with a 6-4 loss to Rochester. Mike Brosseau and Jason Coats homered in the top of the fourth to give the Bulls a 3-1 lead, but the Red Wings immediately responded with five in the bottom half of the inning. Ryan Merritt issued a bases-loaded walk and then a grand slam. He finished with six runs — five earned — allowed in 3 1⁄3 innings.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (23-13)
Montgomery scored six first-inning runs en route to a 9-3 win over Mississippi. The Braves walked three of the first four batters, including Tristan Gray with the bases loaded. Lucius Fox and Miles Mastrobuoni hit back-to-back two-run doubles, and Brendan McKay capped the scoring with an RBI single. The Biscuits had four pitchers combine to limit Mississippi to three runs, led by Dalton Moats’ three scoreless innings.

George Kirby was a Rays pick in a recent mock draft:
George Kirby is done after 5 outstanding IP for @ElonBaseball, just 79 pitches, 50 for strikes. He struck out 9, allowed a run on 2 hits, and walked none (as usual). A power pitcher with 93-97 heat who owns a 105-6 K-BB mark in 82.2 innings? Rare bird. I'm all in. #mlbdraft pic.twitter.com/lbF2aZ5bC4
