F1 bosses expected to confirm the addition of the Dutch Grand Prix for 2020

FORMULA ONE bosses are expected to confirm the addition of the Dutch Grand Prix to the 2020 calendar on Tuesday.

Liberty Media will welcome Zandvoort to the schedule with the date pencilled in for early May.

It will serve as a replacement for the Spanish GP, which is out of contract.

Track bosses were keen to capitalise on Dutchman Max Verstappen’s popularity by hosting the race to the west of Amsterdam.

Thousands of orange-clad supporters have flocked to races in Austria and Belgian to see the Red Bull star.

Liberty will now switch their attention to the future of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, who are in the final year of their contract with F1.

Bosses at the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim and at the Mexican Grand Prix are also waiting to see if they can reach new deals to join the calendar for 2020.

Liberty have already confirmed their intentions to stage a race in Vietnam and are actively seeking a second race in the United States.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton says he’s not to blame for making Formula One boring this season.

The reigning world champion recorded his third win of the season at the Spanish GP while his Mercedes teammate, Valtteri Bottas, has won the other two races in 2019.

The Brackley-based team have made a record-breaking start to the campaign with five back-to-back one-two finishes.

Incredibly, they have taken 98.6 percent of the points available to them for wins and fastest laps this season.

But Hamilton, who now leads the drivers’ world championship from Bottas, says he is not responsible for the sport’s predictability as Ferrari and Red Bull struggle to match the Silver Arrows.
