How do autistic people manage friendships?
The Maltese branch of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health will be live-streaming Clinical Psychologist Tony Attwood's one-day conference called What you need to know about Autism at St James Cavalier on Wednesday at 9.30am.
ACAMH’s committee is made up of local professionals, who work with children and adolescents, including those who have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
It is widely recognised that people with an ASD diagnosis benefit from a holistic intervention plan, which includes home and school environments.
ACAMH (Malta) said the conference will benefit parents and professionals, including all mental health workers, teachers and those within the social services.
Dr Attwood is a world-renowned expert in this field and is a best-selling author, with his work translated into 28 languages.
He has written widely-used textbooks and workbooks and has worked with thousands of people with ASD.
He will be specifically talking about practical ways of how to support people with ASD to manage friendships and their emotions.
