Bizarre video shows children being chased and savaged by neighbor’s pet raccoon
A six year-old girl was badly scratched after she and her siblings were chased and attacked by their neighbor’s pet raccoon.
The animal, called Bandit, drew blood from Abigail McClausky’s knee after jumping on her as she played in her backyard in Clinton Township, Michigan.
Bandit also attacked Abigail’s eight year-old brother. The little girl was taken to the vet and given rabies shots. She has since tested negative for the disease.
Abigal’s father Patrick McClausky says his children have been left badly shaken by the attack, telling WXYZ: ‘They wont sleep in their rooms, they’re not going to play in the yard anymore.
‘They don’t feel safe.’
After the attack, Bandit was caught using nets and dog food. He was taken to a local animal shelter, where he was put to sleep.
His owners, who gave their names as Joel and Linda, have since erected a memorial to their late pet.
Commenting on the attack, Joel said: ‘If it did, I’m sorry it did, it was probably trying to play.’
Joel and Linda said they’d reared Bandit from when he was a baby.
They added that the creature had always previously been friendly – and that they’d even let Bandit sleep with their granddaughter.
