Girl gamers are charging men up to £80 to play Fortnite with them as ‘online girlfriends’ and even therapists
WOMEN and girls charging lonely male gamers up to £70 to play Fortnite with them.
Gamers are signing up for the sessions and paying to play the battle royale game and others and talk, vent or even ask for less savoury things.
A typical “session” sees gamers “talking about life, interests and sometimes their problems,” according to a 19-year-old freelance artist who goes by thicku on one of the sites where the services are traded and spoke to Sun Online.
She can make around £600 a month playing games alongside other work.
While there are few “odd balls”, she says, most people looking to play are doing so because “their friends are usually asleep or they are going through a rough patch and just need a change of pace.”
“I’ve had a few issues with people asking for inappropriate things,” she says, but these case are very much in the minority.
Another ‘gamergirl’ who goes by sleeping_pixie says she signed up and started advertising for clients after a tip from her brother.
She is based in Algeria and studying for an MA, but has signed up to supplement her income as she studies.
“I spend all of my time playing video games… so I thought ‘why do it for free?'” she says.
Most people who pay for her time are “guys who want to have a girl playing with them”, though some are even video game streamers trying to get their views up.
“According to them people love to watch gamers play girls,” she says.
She does have more problems with people asking for inappropriate things, though.
Pixie revealed that there are “old men looking for young girls”.
“There are a lot of old men who offer a lot of money for sexual things… those people are the worst,” she says.
One particularly “cruel” man told Pixie “that his wife passed away and he wants to use her life insurance money for sexual favors.”
Another user who goes by ‘Wannietran’ is a psychology student studying in Amsterdam. She specifically offers to be an “online therapist” while playing games.
“I believe that a lot of gamers are really really lonely and isolated,” she says, and started offering services because she “was looking for a way to earn money fast.”
