Grealish to find out whether he will face play-off ban after being accused of diving for penalty in Aston Villa win against West Brom
JACK GREALISH will discover today if his season is over.
But Aston Villa fans can expect good news from Wembley beaks about their key midfielder.
The FA will take a look at the penalty Grealish earned which completed Villa’s play-off semi-final comeback win over West Brom on Saturday.
Grealish was the first to react to a loose ball in the Albion box and went down under a challenge from Kieran Gibbs.
It seemed a clear-cut decision, with Gibbs fortunate not to receive a second yellow card which would have ruled him out of the second leg tomorrow, and Tammy Abraham stroked home.
But West Brom were furious, suggesting Grealish had dive.
And FA disciplinary chiefs will today study the video clips of the incident to determine if Grealish was guilty of “deceiving” referee Graham Scott.
Only if the FA believe there is a case to answer – which would be a view that there was no contact by Gibbs – would the situation go any further.

It would then be sent to a three-man panel of ex-refs to assess the case.
All three would unanimously have to agree that Grealish had dived, which would mean an automatic two-game ban for the midfielder, ruling him out of the second leg and also the Wembley final if Villa go through.
However, it seems unlikely that the initial threshold will be met, with Grealish expected to be cleared for action by late afternoon.
