Samajwadi Party Nepal cadres vandalise Avenues Television office in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ: Following Upendra Yadav’s walk over citing indecorous manner of the journalist during a television show in Kathmandu, cadres affiliated to Samajwadi Party vandalised Avenues Television Regional Office in Birgunj, on Monday.
A group of around seven masked persons attacked the office today, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rewati Dhakal said. He further said that the group destroyed the office, banners, smashed windows and also damaged photo journalist Jakir Hussain’s cameras.
Avenue news Parsa reporter Hari Shankar Sharma said, “A group led by Birgunj-12 Ward Chief Tufan Singh vandalised the office this afternoon.”
After the incident, Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhattarai and SP Rewati Dhakal visited the office, today. And security was heightened to thwart any untoward activities in the area.
Chairman of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Parsa Chapter, Shyam Banjara has condemned the attack and demanded action against the culprits.
