Ruben Loftus-Cheek will only sign new Chelsea contract if he gets assurances over first-team place next season

RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK will seek assurances before committing his long-term future to Chelsea.

The midfielder has another two years left on his current deal, but club chief Marina Granovskaia wants to sit down with the academy graduate about extending his stay at Stamford Bridge beyond 2021.

But SunSport have been told the 23-year-old wants to be told he is a genuine part of the Blues first-team plans moving forward.

The England star has only started six Prem games this term scoring six goals.

And despite a niggling back injury, there is a suggestion Loftus-Cheek feels he should have started more games this season under Maurizio Sarri.

The midfielder who played the goalless draw at Leicester has shown his worth bagging ten goals in all competitions and will expect to start the Europa League final against Arsenal later this month in Baku.

Chelsea will no doubt offer Loftus-Cheek a lucrative deal to stay in West London.

But he could sit back and watch Chelsea’s two-window transfer ban appeal unfold as they take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Chelsea want their punishment to be put on hold during the appeal process, potentially allowing them to sign new players.

And if that happens and Sarri lands another midfielder who is viewed as an alternative to Loftus-Cheek, regardless of the numbers involved, he could look for regular football elsewhere.
