Joshua likes Wilder to beat Breazeale, says he’ll be watching

Wilder defends his WBC heavyweight title against Beazeale this weekend.

It’s fight week for Deontay Wilder’s heavyweight title defense against mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale — who will square off this Saturday night on Showtime — and unified champion Anthony Joshua tells Skys Sports that he’ll definitely be tuning in.

Joshua holds a knockout win over Breazeale in 2016, so therefore has experience with his style of fighting, and says he gives Wilder the advantage to retain his world title.

“Styles make fights, I think Wilder will fare well against Breazeale. I think Wilder is too quick, he’s a very, very fast heavyweight, but Breazeale is tough, took me seven rounds.”

The unified titleholder continued by recounting his experience against Breazeale, saying that he was no Wladimir Klitschko but that Breazeale definitely came to fight, suggesting that he expects him to bring at least that same kind of energy against Wilder.

That shouldn’t be too difficult, though, as Breazeale has a personal vendetta against Wilder and believes that if he beats him that Wilder will retire, essentially saying he doesn’t think Wilder has the mental fortitude to survive having his bubble burst. But Breazeale enters this fight as an underdog for a reason, so he’ll have an uphill battle in front of him.
