Plenty of basketball coaches have attempted to make the leap from college to the NBA without any previous experience in the pros, as Michigan's John Beilein will do with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The precedent for these attempts is not especially positive. Ask John Calipari, Lon Kruger or Tim Floyd.
