Boy calls cops after he was left in hot car with 6 other kids aged under 4
A YOUNG boy called the cops after he was left in a hot car with the windows rolled up along with six other kids aged four and under.
The Charles Country Sheriff’s Office in Maryland, USA, received a phone call just after 1pm on Friday from the car park of a shopping centre in the town of Waldorf.
The boy told police officers that he was in a hot car, unattended and with six other children – he did not know where he was.
Officers who took the call were able to use GPS data to track down the children and the car.
When they arrived at the scene ten minutes later, they found seven children inside a car which had its windows rolled up and no engine running.
The terrified children were helped out of the car and emergency services provided treatment on the scene.
The driver of the car – a 37-year-old women – arrived at the vehicle about ten minutes after officers arrived.
According to police reports, she had been inside shopping for at least 20 minutes and was the mother of two of the children and babysitting the others.
She was charged shortly after with confinement of children inside a motor vehicle.
Social services were contacted and the women is potentially facing more charges.

It is not known whether the boy who called the police is related to the woman.
According to local law in Maryland, it is illegal to leave a child under the age of eight unattended inside a motor vehicle if the caregiver is out of sight.
A person that is at least 13-years-old must remain with the child.
The children in the car were all aged between two to four years old, and left the scene unharmed.
