Game of Thrones viewers frustrated as Daenerys Targaryen proves ‘Mad Queen’ theory right in penultimate episode
GAME of Thrones viewers have been left disappointed that Daenerys Targaryen proved the fan theory that she would turn into a Mad Queen right.
The Mother of Dragons’ claim to the Iron Throne has always been dogged by her father’s reputation as the Mad King.
Aerys II ruled the Seven Kingdoms until he became paranoid and vowed to burn down King’s Landing to rid himself of traitors.
Jaime Lannister killed the King to prevent the slaughter of thousands of innocents – allowing Robert Baratheon to take over the throne with his wife Cersei.
Daenerys has always insisted that she is nothing like her father and has worked tirelessly for the good of the people – freeing slaves and winning hundreds of loyal followers along her way.
But during series 8 episode 5, Daenerys lost her second dragon and witnessed the execution of her beloved advisor Missandei.
The double heartache caused something to snap in the Dragon Queen.
While sacking the city, Tyrion pleaded with the Queen to stop her attack if she hears bells that signal the city’s surrender.
But Daenerys ignored the bells and razed the city to the ground – murdering thousands of innocent men, women and children.
And now her supporters are devastated that she’s turned evil.
But others insist that Daenerys has always had a dark streak.
Meanwhile, the trailer for the final episode of Game of Thrones has revealed a surprising twist.
Fans of the fantasy epic have long hoped for a final showdown with Daenerys Targaryen fighting for the Iron Throne – but in the aftermath of the fiery Last Battle everything has changed.
Season 8 episode 5 ‘The Bells’ saw The Dragon Queen (Emilia Clarke) burn King’s Landing to the ground – killing thousands of innocent men, women and children.
Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) could only look on in horror as the Breaker of Chains turned Mad Queen.
Now a short teaser for episode 6 shows Daenerys walking through the burned ruins of King’s Landing.
Meanwhile, her army, Tyrion and Arya look on.
Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys, previously said that the last ever episode is bound to leave some fans disappointed.
“People will scream and people will say, ‘That’s exactly what I wanted’,” she said.
“And some people will go, ‘Huh?’ – my mum, probably.”
