Is this the actual cameo Aaron Rodgers made in 'Game of Thrones'?
Aaron Rodgers confirmed early Monday morning that he did, in fact, appear in a cameo on Game of Thrones, something he had hinted at over the last couple of years.
Some NFL and GoT fans thought they had spotted the Green Bay Packers quarterback — who’s also a huge fan of the show — in a couple of places: First, someone who looked like Rodgers lined up as a Lannister solider before the Battle of King’s Landing, and there was someone who got blown up by fire who people thought was him.
Alas, it was not. In a GoT extra interview, he explained he was “helping a woman who was injured, sat her down and then, the hell with her, I’m getting out of there.”
This is what he looked like in the scene (SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT):
With that information, I set out to find the real cameo. I got a huge amount of help from this Instagram photo from an extra in the episode (swipe through) who tagged Rodgers:
I then went to the scene, which starts at about 1:05:30, as Arya runs through the city while Daenerys torches it with her dragon. As she runs through an archway, we can see a pair of men helping a woman who is injured walk right in front of the camera. The man on the left has a profile that might belong to Rodgers:
Enhance!
The problem I have here is that person might not be wearing a hat like Rodgers was in the scene and maybe he’s missing the QB’s beard. And that’s significant because when a large piece of wall falls a few seconds later and covers the scene in smoke, it looks like the two men in the back get up, and the one with the hat appears to be “getting out of there.” I circled him here:
Enhance!
Apologies for it not being easier to see, but I think that’s him, in that same hat he was wearing in the interview. Almost as tough to see as Joey Bosa’s cameo.
