ROMELU LUKAKU’S brother and fellow footballer has been banned from driving for nine months – after almost causing a fatal motorway smash.

A Belgian court found the Jordan Lukaku, 24, guilty of dangerous driving and subsequently prevented him getting behind the wheel.

The player must also resit his driving test, undergo medical and psychological tests and pay an £800 fine.

The jury heard police spotted a Range Rover registered to Lukaku speeding on the E19 motorway near Antwerp in May 2015.

Prosecutors said the player appeared to be racing with another car as he weaved in and out of traffic, forcing other drivers to brake.

Lukaku also allegedly drove on the hard shoulder, failed to signal and tailgated other vehicles.

The court rejected the player’s previous claim that a friend had been at the wheel.

The judge said: “The facts testify to a lack of responsibility.

“Behaviour like this at the wheel puts other people’s lives in danger – and it is unacceptable.”

The Manchester United striker’s younger brother plays for Lazio.

The Belgium left-back had talks with Newcastle about a loan move in January, but the deal fell through.

One-time Watford target Lukaku Jr has since been sidelined following a knee operation.
