RIVER CITY’S KAMERON ESTHAY AND EVANSVILLE’S RANDY WYNNE EARN OPENING WEEKEND AWARDS

River City Rascals’ outfielder Kameron Esthay and Evansville Otters’ starting pitcher Randy Wynne were named the Frontier League Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation.

Kameron Esthay receives this years opening week’s honor after a strong opening to his and the Rascals season. Esthay hit safely in all four of River City’s games this weekend, with at least one extra base hit in every game as well. Leading the Rascals to a record of 3-1 this weekend, Esthay slashed .444/.474/.833. His weekend included one homerun, four doubles and 6 RBIs while going 8-18 against the Washington Wild Things.

Kameron Esthay was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 26th Round in the 2017 armature draft out of Baylor. The Lake Charles, Louisiana native played 2 years in the Nationals farm system before being signed by the Rascals on April 3.

Randy Wynne was dominant this weekend against the Southern Illinois Minors earning him this week’s award. After showing promise in 2018, the Otter’s 26 year old second year pitcher started his season on a high note. Wynne pitched 8 innings, striking out 13, only giving up two hits, zero earned runs in a 6-1win for the Evansville Otters over the Southern Illinois Miners.

Wynne began his time with the Otters in 2018, after playing 2 years for the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers of the Unites Shore Professional Baseball League. The Santee California native had a 13-8 record with a 3.23 in two season in the United Shore Professional Baseball League. The Otters signed Randy on January 29, 2018, where he pitched well posting a 9-9 record, pitching 134.1 innings, striking out 114 and a 3.55 ERA making the all star team in his first year in the league.
