St. Marks Rail Trail Under The Power Lines – April 6, 2019
This was a pleasant 1 1/2 hour ride through long-leaf pine and early Spring undergrowth of ferns and numerous flowers. We observed several pines that were marked with a white ring and the undergrowth cleared away for the endangered Cockaded Woodpecker and their nests. Ambrose H., Sue N., Linda V., and Katrina W. enjoyed wandering these unmarked single and double tract trails, passing through the middle of a quail sanctuary. Having two young horses in our midst, we purposely rode next to Marpan, a noisy trash factory and the horses did great. Having two older horses acting bored over the ruckus seemed to help. The horses and riders returned to the trailers relaxed and refreshed after this gentle and sunny Spring ride. Submitted by Katrina W.
