Shocking moment cop is knocked unconscious with sucker punch outside pub on Officers Under Attack documentary
THIS is the shocking moment a police officer is knocked out cold by a single punch outside a pub in Norfolk.
PC Ollie Gilder was called to the scene when a man was ejected from the King Lynn’s pub.
The CCTV footage, which airs on the Officers Under Attack documentary, shows the cop speaking with door staff as the yob runs past and chucks his pint of beer on him.
PC Gilder said: “I’ve been stood with my back to him and he’s run behind me throwing the contents of a pint glass over us.”
He thought the man had just run away, but instead he turns around and sprints towards PC Gilder at full speed.
The cop said: “One of the door staff has said: ‘Watch out, behind you!’
“And as I’ve turned my head, I’ve seen the male with his fist clenched.”
The man then hits him with on punch from behind, knocking the officer to the ground unconscious.
‘IT WAS OUT OF NOWHERE’
PC Gilder’s colleague PC Daniel Brock was operating the CCTV that night in July 2016 and said it was frustrating watching the events unfolded before him.
He said: “It was out of nowhere, it wasn’t expected.
“You just saw the male coming towards Ollie you can’t shout out the window, you can’t say ‘Ollie, look behind you.’”
The man pleaded guilty to a public order offence and assaulting an officer.
He was given a £165 fine.
PC Gilder blasted the yob’s punishment saying it wasn’t strong enough.
He said: “The fact that for assaulting a police officer you can get fined £165 just shows in my opinion that you can assault a police officer and it is really not going to cost you anything at all. £165 is not much more than a night out.

Harsher sentences were imposed last November for those who attack 999 workers, which include police officers, paramedics and fire service staff.
