Penske Media’s New Corporate Sales Team Brings BGR.Com Ad Sales Back In-House
NEW YORK, New York—May 1, 2019: Penske Media Corporation (PMC) today announced all advertising sales for its leading technology publication BGR.com will be handled by its new in-house corporate sales team – a new division necessitated by PMC’s steady growth that recently landed the company in position as one of today’s largest premiere media publishers on the web, with a comScore number nearing 100 million monthly unique visitors across its portfolio of premium assets that include Rolling Stone, Variety, WWD, Deadline, SHE Media and more.
Though owned and operated by PMC since 2008, BGR’s sales were formerly represented by Digital Trends. With all of BGR’s sales and brand partnerships now handled exclusively by PMC’s dedicated corporate sales team, led by PMC’s Head of Portfolio Sales Stephen Blackwell, PMC’s total male audience is at 36 million monthly uniques and its collective audience across brands includes a reach to 44% of all millennials. This reach surpasses VC-funded publishers like Vox Media, BuzzFeed, VICE, and Bustle, while maintaining an audience edge over platforms such as Spotify, Pandora, and Reddit.
“Our portfolio is a wonderfully diverse collection of legendary brands. We have category depth you can’t replicate,” said Blackwell. “I’m honored and eager to bring to market cohesive packages for partners looking to take advantage of our reach.”
Blackwell has founded and operated multiple businesses over the past decade. In 2009 he founded the popular music and lifestyle brand Death and Taxes that was acquired by SpinMedia, where he became Chief Executive Officer and ran legendary music brands SPIN and VIBE among others. When the company was acquired by The Billboard-Hollywood Reporter Media Group, Blackwell served as Chief Strategy Officer. Most recently, Blackwell was Chief Strategist of BandLab Technologies, where he oversaw Rolling Stone International’s operation.
Closely read by analysts, pundits and industry executives as well as gadget enthusiasts, BGR is a trusted authority on technology news with its 16 million monthly unique visitors making it one of the largest audiences in the technology news and entertainment space.
