Grumpy Cat That Inspired Millions of Memes Died at The Age of 7, Twitterati Pay Condolences
Internet star ‘Grumpy Cat’ that inspired memes has died at the age of seven. The owners took to Twitter to share the sad news with the fans. The post reads, “We are unimaginably heartbroken to announce the loss of our beloved Grumpy Cat. Despite care from top professionals, as well as from her very loving family, Grumpy encountered complications from a recent urinary tract infection that unfortunately became too tough for her to overcome. She passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, May 14, at home in the arms of her mommy, Tabatha. Besides being our baby and a cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people smile all around the world- even when times were tough. Her spirit will continue to live on through her fans everywhere.” (sic)
Many Twitter users expressed their condolences to the cat. One user wrote, “Hitting me hard. I was just wondering how she was doing not just a few days ago too. She was my internet cat.” While the other commented, “I wasn’t planning to cry this early I. The morning.”

Horrible news, I hope Grumpy’s family is taking care of themselves. Grumpy became an unexpected muse for me, as I had the honor of illustrating 5 of her picture books over the years. I am so grateful.
It’s raining softly here today, I have no doubt that it’s Grumpy’s doing. <3 pic.twitter.com/0AI776hik1
