CLUB NIGHT REPORT: Thurs 16th May 19
With 36 plus players down at the chess club, 13 of them juniors, we can say it was a busy night again at Castlehill Dundee!

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP – Round 5 (Part 1)
Well it was a night of shock results in the last round of our club championship.

Results
Ray Noble (1482) 1, (1521) Tom Constance J17 0
The old dog still has some fight left in him to take down one of our top juniors! Rolling back the years Ray!

Subhayu Banerjee (1403) 1, (ug) Innes Ford 0
Innes is a player with a lot of good chess skills already, so a tricky tie for Subhayu which he passed with flying colours!

Keith Rose (1495) 0, Dariusz Kosznik (1749) 1
A week too early for Keith who was not meant to be playing until next Thursday!

Euan Dawson J17 (1798) 1, Ed Walton (1242) 0
You know you are a good player and having a bit of luck when you go a piece down by mistake and still manage to pull the rabbit out of the hat against a strong player who’s current grade is a April Fool’s joke!

Roy Morris (1446) 1, Lisa Paton (926) 0
A common paring over the years and one both players enjoy! Roy due to his grading has the better of the battles and this time was no exception. The thing is Lisa can play far better than her current grade says and if you don`t know that you can get badly burnt!

The juniors were on fire tonight and in a mean chess mood!

Josh Cargill J17 (902) 1, (1401) Alan Woodcock 0
This is the shock result of the night as Josh takes down one of the hardest middle graded players to beat and he won! Congratulations Josh on a great result!

Rishabh Akula J13 (608) 0, (701) Charvi Kanodia J16 1
An early mistake by Rishabh saw Charvi pounce and rip the heart out like a professional killer in this battle of the juniors! Not so sure a battle, more a massacre! Well played Charvi!

Sneha Sripada J14 (ug) 1, Alan Brown (ug) 0
Alan did not know what hit him as Sneha showed that she has a good understanding of the game and this time managed to finish the job! Don`t you just hate playing juniors that look like a smiling assassins!

Krish Akula J11 (488) 1, Scot McKenzie (515) 0
Sometimes Krish plays well then drifts into lost games, but this time he held it together and got his just rewards!

Next Thursday sees the last few matches left in the Club Championship including the top battle between Andre Babin (3½) and Declan Shafi (4). It should be a belter! See you all then for another fantastic night chess at Castlehill Chess Club Dundee!
