Amazon ‘making creepy mind-reading watch that detects emotions though your VOICE’
AMAZON is crafting a creepy mind-reading watch that detects your emotional state – just through the sound of your voice.
The tech giant will reportedly tout its gadget – which is said to be in testing – as a “health and wellness” aide.
But many will see it as yet another attempt by the £130billion company to infiltrate every aspect of people’s lives.
It is a wrist-worn device with microphones to pick up the wearer’s commands and relay them to Alexa-enabled speakers, according to patent documents obtained by Bloomberg.
But it will also employ futuristic software to decipher what kind of mood the wearer is in.
The strange gadget will even help its wearer interact better with other people, according to the plans.
A diagram in the patent filing shows a sniffling woman telling an Alexa device that she is hungry.
Thanks to the mind-reading wrist gadget, Alexa appears able to tell that the woman is unwell.
It then asks if she would like a recipe for chicken soup.
A separate patent filed in 2017 also details a voice software system to pick up on a person’s feelings.
It is apparently able to tell between a range of emotions – including joy, anger, sorrow, sadness, fear and disgust.
Testing is reportedly underway with developers from Lab126 – the team behind Amazon’s Echo smart speaker.
But it is unclear how far along the development process is or when – if ever – it will be put on sale.
An spokesperson declined to comment on what they called “rumours or speculation,” Fox News said.
It comes after we told how Amazon is listening to customers through its Alexa devices.
Employees have recorded thousands of clips – including a woman singing in the shower and a sex assault.

Full-time workers and contractors at the online retail giant reportedly sift through as many as 1,000 recordings per shift.
They even share “amusing” clips between themselves, whistleblowers said.
Amazon said “an extremely small sample of Alexa voice recordings” are analysed by staff to train its speech recognition systems.
