I don’t want to be with my boyfriend after finding out he was expelled for bullying
DEAR DEIDRE: WHILE having tea at my boyfriend’s house, his little brother told me my boyfriend had been expelled from one school for bullying.
I was shocked because a family friend attending a different school from mine took her own life after she was bullied.
She was 14. It was sickening to hear that my boyfriend would do that to someone.
I’m 16 and he’s 17. I don’t think I want to be with him now.
I’ve lost respect for him.
My friends think I am over-reacting but my family are close to my friend’s parents and they would be devastated. Should I end it?

DEIDRE SAYS: Not without asking him about the circumstances. He needs to give you his side of events.
If he was a bully and tries to excuse his behaviour, you will pick up on his wriggling – and then best break with him.
But the reality may not be as rumoured or he may have learned his lesson then bitterly regret his behaviour. We all deserve a second chance.
