Elton John heartbroken about Barbara Windsor’s battle with Alzheimer’s
BARBARA Windsor – Elton John’s close friend for many years – was on his mind at the Cannes Film Festival as the Carry On great continues to battle Alzheimer’s.
Speaking for the first time about her diagnosis, Elton revealed he is being kept informed about her condition by her devoted husband, Scott Mitchell.
He told me: “I’ve spoken to Scott and I’ve had emails from him.
“It’s very sad. I know so many people who have got Alzheimer’s or the onset of Alzheimer’s and it’s really devastating for the people around them.
“I don’t know what it’s like for them, it must be like being on an acid trip or something.”
Elton believes it’s the loved ones who are often left in the most difficult position while trying to help manage dementia.
He explained: “For the people who love them it’s a lot of work – a big responsibility, you’re 24/7.
“And they’re so lovely and he adores her and she adores him and now he’s got this for the rest of her life basically.
