Meghan Markle says boxed mac and cheese is her favourite – but fans think it’s ‘gross’

SHE’S known for her healthy lifestyle, but that doesn’t stop Meghan Markle having her go-to comfort foods.

In fact, a few years ago, the Duchess of Sussex admitted to indulging in “boxed mac and cheese”, revealing she “loves” the stuff.

In an interview with blog Eye Swoon in 2017, the 37-year-old was asked about the one food she “embarrassingly and secretly loves to eat”.

“I love a french fry, but there’s no shame in that,” she explained.

“But you know what I do really happen to love is that boxed macaroni and cheese.

“I now buy the Annie’s organic one if I’m craving it, but I throw some frozen peas into it and have this gooey, simple childlike meal.”

But sadly, not all fans agree with Meghan’s food choice.

Writing on Twitter, one social media user called the pasta “gross” while another said: “Annie’s mac and cheese smells like gross smelling sneakers.”

And with Meghan explaining she would make the cheesy snack for the kids she used to babysit, one royal fan even wondered whether she would allow little Archie to have the pasta when he’s older.

Aside from the French fries and macaroni cheese, it’s no secret that the mum is a foodie – after all, Prince Harry did propose “over a roast chicken”.

For breakfast, the royal is said to enjoy avocado on toast – in fact, the Duchess was called the “avocado on toast whisperer” by her best friend and make-up artist, Daniel Martin, earlier this year.

For lunch, the royal once revealed she considers French fries to be “their own food group”, explaining: “I’m always hoping I’m having lunch with people, so we can share fries. It’s its own food group for me.”

Meanwhile, for dinner, Meghan is a “big fan of suppers”.

“Whether we’re eating lamb tagine, pot roast or a hearty soup, the idea of gathering for a hearty meal with friends and family on a Sunday makes me feel comforted,” she told Today.

“I enjoy making slow-cooked food on Sundays, like Filipino-style chicken adobo.

“It’s so easy—combine garlic, soy (or Bragg Liquid Aminos), vinegar, maybe some lemon and let the chicken swim in that sauce until it falls off the bone in a Crock Pot.”

Despite being a self-confessed foodie, the 37-year-old revealed “it’s all about balance”.

“I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends,” she told Best Health.

“But at the same time, it’s all about balance. Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived.

“I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things. It’s not a diet; it’s lifestyle eating.”
