Pep Guardiola is a machine driving Man City to glory, says chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak
ETIHAD chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak says Pep Guardiola is like a machine driving Manchester City on to glory.
Guardiola’s side put together an astonishing 14-game winning streak to pip Liverpool and claim back-to-back Premier League titles.
Yet Khaldoon revealed how the domestic Treble-winning Catalan chief, 48, always managed to keep his cool even when the heat was at its fiercest.
Khaldoon said: “Since January 1, every game has been a cup final so the level of stress and pressure we had to live with for all those months was incredible.
“I work very closely with Pep and throughout this period he was extremely focused, almost like a machine.
“He’s done it before in the Premier League, in Spain, in Germany. He’s dealt with that pressure.”
Guardiola won six pieces of silverware at Barcelona during the calendar year 2009.
So claiming four in nine months — including the Community Shield — with City is nothing special.
Yet Pep has turned this team into serial winners, just like he did at Barca.
This organisation is not designed to sit back and be content. When it comes to the Champions League we will keep trying — and we will win it.

Khaldoon added: “I recall a conversation with Yaya Toure when he first arrived.
“He was part of that great Barcelona team and he told me their mindset was to win every game — in any competition. The whole team were programmed for that.
“We didn’t have that then but now our mindset is to win every game and to win every competition.”
Manchester City followed up their title triumph with a 6-0 FA Cup final win over Watford — adding to the Carabao Cup they lifted earlier in the year — to wrap up their domestic Treble.
The Champions League still eludes Guardiola at City yet Khaldoon warned the club’s plans to come back even stronger next season are already well in place.
He said: “This organisation is not designed to sit back and be content.
