British blokes are snubbing beer on nights out — and ordering cocktails instead, survey finds
BLOKES are snubbing beer on nights out — and ordering cocktails instead.
Some 42 per cent say they prefer them to pints, with the rum-based mojito favourite.
Lads in Liverpool ordered the most, with 62 per cent choosing them over beer or lager.
Leeds was second on 51 per cent, then Cardiff with 48, and London coming in at fourth with 45 per cent.
Men in Bristol were least likely to prefer a mixed alcoholic bevvy, with 18 per cent swapping them for beer.
Edinburgh was next with 21 per cent, then Birmingham on 23 per cent, according to a survey of 2,000 under-55s.
The mojito — white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water and mint — was a hit with 37 per cent of men.

Four in five blokes (80 per cent) said that they would never have ordered a cocktail three years ago.
But a spokesman for Belgrove Rum, which commissioned the poll, said “Men are well on their way to becoming cocktail connoisseurs.”
