At least 1 dead in Japan stabbing attack at school bus stop

At least one young schoolgirl is dead after a man with two knives attacked a bus stop in Kawasaki City, south of Tokyo, on Tuesday, Japanese media reports. At least 19 people were wounded in the attack, including 13 children, and some media reports list the death count at three. The suspected attacker, a man in his 40s or 50s who reportedly approached a group of girls waiting for a bus to their private Catholic school yelling "I will kill you," is also dead after slashing his own neck, national broadcaster NHK reports. The school children attacked were about 6 or 7, NHK says.

Japan has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, but the country is shaken by a violent attacks every once in a while. The alleged attacker's name and any possible motive have not been publicly identified.
