Der 32-jährige Salzburger, der im Vorfeld an einer Verkühlung gelitten hatte, landete auf seiner KTM nach 84 Sonderprüfungs-Kilometern mit 3:12 Minuten Rückstand auf Tagessieger Joan Barreda Bort (ESP/Honda) im Ziel in Pisco. Insgesamt wurden von Lima nach Pisco 331 km bewältigt.
