You may have noticed lots of cars parked in the late afternoons near our Club. The reason is that loads of birdwatchers have been coming to view the starling murmurations at the neighbouring Leighton Moss reserve.The RSPB think that starlings do it for many reasons. Grouping together offers safety in numbers – predators such as peregrine falcons find it hard to target one bird in the middle of a hypnotising flock of thousands.They also gather to keep warm at night and to exchange information,

3 held for smuggling wine

Three persons were arrested and 2,000 litre of English wine worth Rs 11 lakh was seized from them on the Meerut-Karnal Highway at Bidoli Check Cost under Jhinjhana Police Station limits in Shamli district on Saturday, officials said. A police team, led by SHO OP Choudhry, intercepted a truck in which smuggled wine was being smuggled from Haryana to UP, SP Ajay Kumar Pandey told PTI. IIT-KGP honours 10 alumni for contribution to institute

Ten alumni of the IIT-Kharagpur were honoured for their contribution to the institute for facilitating global networking and reach, leading collaborative projects and other activities at the 16th Annual Alumni Meet being held at the institute campus. The recipients included Ratun Lahiri and Davender Jain who were from abroad. Another accused in former J'khand minister killing case held

A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA), Raipur, Saturday arrested another accused in the killing of former Jharkhand minister and JD(U) MLA Ramesh Singh Munda from Khunti district. Munda was killed on July 9, 2008. "A team of NIA, Raipur today arrested accused Bhajohari Singh Munda (48) from village Jojohatu under Arki police station in Khunti district," an NIA press release said.
