Protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill were held in parts of Manipur by Manipur Peoples Party (MPP) and six students' organisations on Monday. The protestors, who took out processions and staged sit-ins in various districts, demanded to know the stand of the BJP-led state government on the contentious bill. A young beautician was Monday killed in the beauty parlour allegedly by an unidentified man in Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, police said. The incident occurred in the Shanichara market area when a man barged into the beauty saloon and slit the throat of the woman with a sharp-edged weapon, before fleeing, Chhindwara SP Manoj Rai said. The victim died at hospital. Further investigation is on.

The Congress Monday alleged a "scam" by the Modi government in the allocation of microwave spectrum in 2015 and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the matter. The party also alleged that it had caused losses of crores to the exchequer. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera cited a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that said the government allotted the spectrum in 2015 on "first-cum-first-service" basis in contradiction of rules. Two men were injured after they allegedly fell from an under-construction building following an altercation during a drinking session in south east Delhi's Okha Industrial Area, police said Monday. U.S. consumer prices inched down by 0.1 percent in December, due to a sharp decline in gasoline futures, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Friday, reporting the first drop in consumer prices in nine months. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) declined by 0.1 percent in December on a seasonally adjusted basis after being unchanged in November, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said.
