Department under fire over Neil Prakash citizenship

The home affairs department admits it did not seek advice from any experts in Fijian law before cancelling the Australian citizenship of convicted terrorist Neil Prakash. Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton announced his decision to strip Prakash of his citizenship on December 29 last year, based on the belief he was a dual Fijian national. When asked if it consulted with Fijian experts or took any steps to verify that Prakash was a Fijian citizen, the Department said it did not.
