Two hurt as parents brawl at Pembroke school

A fight between students ended in a brawl involving parents at Pembroke secondary school on Monday morning, with two educators left hurt in the altercation. Police were called to the scene at around noon after receiving reports that a scrap between two teenage students had escalated after their respective parents were called to the school. Two staff members were hurt in the ensuing fight, sources said. The parents left the school before the police arrived and are now being tracked down, the sources added.

Oppn parties meet EC over EVM issue, demand matching of 50 pc of EVM results with VVPATs

Leaders of several opposition parties approached the Election Commission on Monday and sought redressal of the issue of alleged tampering of electronic voting machines (EVMs). The opposition leaders demanded the poll panel ensure that 50 per cent of EVM results are matched and cross-checked with voter verifiable paper audit trails (VVPATs) before declaration of results in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
