Nearly 180 Kashmiri students, who are scheduled to write Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination in Jammu on Sunday, were airlifted from here in a special Indian Air Force (IAF) plane on Friday, officials said. "Due to heavy snowfall, the valley was cut off from the rest of world due to closure of national highway and cancellation of flights. The BJP will not "invite" applications for Lok Sabha poll candidates from Himachal Pradesh, leaving its parliamentary board to pick nominees on the basis of their winnability, a party leader said Friday. Himachal BJP election incharge Tirath Singh Rawat claimed that the BJP would again emerge victorious on all the four Lok Sabha seats in the general elections. Five killed in fire at camp for Boko Haram displaced

Five people were killed in a fire at a camp for those displaced by Boko Haram violence in northeast Nigeria, an eyewitness and a humanitarian source said on Friday. The blaze broke out on Thursday at the camp housing some 7,500 internally displaced persons in the garrison town of Monguno, in Borno state. The displaced people were preparing breakfast when the fire broke out, gutting makeshift tents.
