Canadian dollar pops after January jobs report shows boost in job creation
Canada's dollar shot higher versus its U.S. rival on Friday, following Canada's January jobs report. In January, 66,800 jobs were created in Canada, more than the FactSet consensus expectation of 5,000. That said, the unemployment rate rose to 5.8%, compared with 5.7% and 5.6% in the period before. One U.S. dollar last fetched C$1.3235, down 0.5%, according to FactSet data. Before the data, the currency pair was little changed from the previous day.
