From the top-of-the-line Nokia 9 PureView with five 12MP rear cameras to the $25 bottom-end Nokia 210, HMD has unveiled five new devices at Mobile World Congress 2019.

In the past, HMD-owned Nokia leaned heavily on nostalgia to drum up interest for revamped versions of classic dumbphones like the 3310 and 8110 4G "bananaphone." But not this year.

HMD Global has a new Nokia flagship, and it might be the company’s most ambitious phone yet: the Nokia 9 PureView, with a show-stopping five — count ‘em, five — cameras on the back that officially takes the crown for the most rear cameras ever put on a phone.

As is practically tradition, HMD Global has come to Mobile World Congress with a new lineup of Nokia phones, and this year’s group includes budget devices with some clever new features.

Rumors have been swirling about a mysterious Nokia phone featuring a bug-eyed multi-lens camera setup on its back for more than six months. Some thought it would get announced at CES, or during the slow time for phones in early Q1, but finally at MWC 2019, the long wait is over.

We got by for years with one main camera on our smartphones. Then dual cameras became a thing, and now, the industry is steadily moving toward three as the norm. Surely that must be enough, right?

As usual, HMD Global has been very busy ahead of MWC. Not only did it build a pleasantly insane five-camera flagship, it also added a slew of mid-range and low-end smartphones. (Oh, and a feature phone follow-up to the Nokia 106 and 230, if that'...

• The five cameras are arranged in a pentagon shape on the rear of the phone, and impressively don’t add any extra bump or bulk.
• The phone is targeted at early adopters and enthusiasts, and is reminiscent of Nokia’s 808 PureView in 2012.
