RUDN chemists have synthesized metal complexes on the basis of the organoelemental substance silsesquioxane that consists of an organic and an inorganic part. Such hybrid systems may be used as efficient catalysts, for example, to obtain alcohols from alkanes. The work was published in the Inorganic Chemistry journal.



Punjab CM lays foundation stones for 7 developmental projects in Hoshiarpur

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Monday laid the foundation stones for seven developmental projects here. The seven projects include a cancer hospital, a multipurpose indoor hall, a food street, a new library, one railway over bridge on the Jalandhar Cantonment-Hoshiarpur line, a girls hostel and a community centre, according to an official release. Indian contingent leaves for Special Olympics

A 378-strong Indian contingent, including 289 athletes and 73 coaches, was Monday given a warm send-off, motivating them ahead of the upcoming Special Olympics. A send-off was organised in the city's The Frank Anthony Public School and presided over by Aruna Abhey Oswal, founder of a trust named after her. The guests of honour included former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif and Ambassador of Ecuador, Hector Cueva Jacome. While returning from school, 7-year-old girl raped by 12-year-old boy in UP: Police

A seven-year-old girl has allegedly been raped by a 12-year-old boy in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said Monday. The incident took place at Nanheda village under Bhopa police station this afternoon when the girl, studying in Class 3, was returning home from school, they said. The girl has been sent for medical examination and a case has been registered, Circle Officer, Ram Mohan Sharma said. Police has taken the boy in its custody and further investigation is underway, Sharma added.

Maliwal issues notice to sanitary napkin manufacturers over not giving tax rebate on pads

Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal has issued notice to some sanitary napkin manufacturers over allegations that they were not passing on to consumers the tax rebate on sanitary pads. Last year on July 21, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council slashed the GST rate on sanitary napkins from 12 per cent to zero. Maliwal said that several women, during a march to promote woman safety, complained to her that sanitary napkin manufacturers did not reduced the prices. India will collaborate with Bhutan, Nepal, Indonesia and Malaysia to increase the population of three species of Asian rhinos, including the Greater one-horned rhinoceros found in the Indian sub-continent. The five rhino range nations signed a declaration 'The New Delhi Declaration on Asian Rhinos 2019' for the conservation and protection of the species at the recently held Second Asian Rhino Range Countries meeting here.
