No political content on NaMo TV without pre-certification: EC tells Delhi CEO

The Election Commission Thursday directed Delhi's chief electoral officer that all political publicity contents being displayed without pre-certification be removed immediately from NaMo TV. The poll panel said any political content has to be permitted by the local media certification committee "strictly in accordance with the EC's instructions in this regard". Foreign currency worth Rs 2.99 crore was seized from a taxi in Mahim in central Mumbai Thursday, police said. The currency, seized near Mahim Causeway in the early hours, was to be sent to Kolkata, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad by a flight, senior police inspector Milind Gadankush said. But the flight got cancelled, so the cash was being taken to an office on Dadasaheb Phalke Road in Dadar when the police stopped the taxi during vehicle checking. 73 per cent polling in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Around 73 per cent of over three lakh voters in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands exercised their franchise in the Lok Sabha election on Thursday, officials said. Fifteen candidates including Kuldeep Rai Sharma of the Indian National Congress and BJP's Vishal Jolly are in the fray for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the union territory. Amnesty calls for Sudan's Bashir to be handed to ICC

Ousted Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir should be handed over to the International Criminal Court, Amnesty International said after the army overthrew his three-decade iron rule on Thursday. The London-based human rights organisation also urged the military authorities to ensure that new emergency laws do not undermine civil liberties. "Bashir is wanted for some of the most odious human rights violations of our generation, and we need to finally see him held accountable," Amnesty secretary general Kumi Naidoo said in a statement.
