A 56-year-old woman died inside a polling booth in Nadia district on Monday apparently due to the prevailing heat wave like condition, officials said. After standing in a queue for some time, Seikh Salema went inside the booth at a school in Kaliganj area in Krishnagar Lok Sabha seat around 9 am and fell unconscious shortly after that, district officials said. Efforts to revive her by a woman accompanying her and poll workers inside the booth failed and she died. District Magistrate Sumit Gupta confirmed the death of the woman.

The final voting percentage in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra could reach 57 per cent, the Election Commission said Monday. The final figures would be announced Tuesday, said Ashwani Kumar, chief electoral officer of the state. "The estimated voting for 17 Lok Sabha seats (that went to polls in 4th phase) is 57 per cent.
